Coming Home to Freedom: Be the Change!
Devotional Reading: Philippians 4:1-9
You know the saying, "be the change you want to see in the world"? There is some truth to those words of wisdom. I don't know about you, but I find that regardless of how much I try not to be influenced by the negative culture around me, somehow its climate seems to be contagious. And yet, God calls us to be something different. " In the world, but not of it".... as goes another saying.
In today's Scripture we are encouraged to find a place of similar mindedness with those with whom we are having difficulty getting along. We are instructed to find our joy in Jesus Christ. We are encouraged to cast our anxiety with thanksgiving on Jesus, knowing that he does care for each of us.
And then we are told to think and put into practice "whatever is true... noble... right... pure... lovely... admirable... excellent... praiseworthy."
What if we tried each day this next week to live out the instruction of Philippians 4:1-9? What if each day we resolved to be a little more kind, a little less anxious, and a little more joyful in Christ? We may not change the world world, but I am sure we'll positively impact the world right around us!
Praise God! Thank you for giving us instruction on how to live. Help me to live today and each day this week a little more like how you would like me to be. In Jesus name, Amen.
